About Me

I am a product of the Deer Valley Unified School District.  I attended Sunrise Elementary, Desert Sky Middle School, and in 2000 I obtained my diploma from Deer Valley High School.

After DVHS I attended the University of Arizona (Go Wildcats and Bear Down!) until May 2004 when I received a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  I earned my Master of Education with emphasis in Secondary Education (7th-12th grades) from Northern Arizona University in May 2007.

This year will be my second year teaching 7th grade Social Studies.  Last year I had a wonderful experience at Desert Sky Middle School.  I am very excited to start the year and have several ideas to make our experiences together memorable and beneficial.

I love history, especially American history.  I think it is a very fascinating, living, changing, and important field of study and very relevant to our lives.  I believe it is very important to investigate history as active participants.  Looking at the accounts of history from our current point of view and with the knowledge and hindsight we have gained is vital.  However, it is just as important, if not more so, to understand the context of historical accounts.  Throughout this course we will put ourselves in history by using feeling and point of view in journals, timelines, reenactments, and discussions.  We will also read and create a number of primary and secondary sources.
